Four seems to be overheating?

I have a Maytag gas stove / range of kitchen and appears to have been overheated. Gotta keep an eye on what is in the oven because my food starts to burn. It happened just today when I was baking cookies. 5 minutes ago and I burned. What could be causing this? The oven is only a little over a year.
